This Time They Ran

A solo-journaling prison escape tabletop roleplaying game.

The game details convicts' attempts escaping Flamingo Bay - a fictional high-walled, island-isolated prison. The goal is to traverse the prison map and move from the prisoner’s Cell to Beyond the Walls.

You (the Player) will create and play through several different escape stories, called Runs. Not many prisoners escape, but the stories of their failed Runs reveal Secrets about the prison. During these Runs, you will encounter obstacles and journal your successes and failures, and in the process add details to the prison and its people.

All proceeds from this game will be donated to the Bulgarian Prisoners' Rehabilitation Association (BPRA), an independent collective of prisoners, ex-prisoners, and volunteers fighting corruption and torture in Bulgarian prisons. Special thanks to Svetlomir Neshkov, the vice-chairman of BPRA and an inmate in Sofia Prison, for his impeccable storytelling, which inspired the game.

BPRA does not condone prison escape, but they recommend this game.
